OOCL tracking by container number

Enter an OOCL container number (4 letters and 7 digits, like OOLU1234567). The tool checks it against its check digit, confirms from the prefix that the container is OOCL's, and opens OOCL's own tracking page, where you see its moves and arrival date. Free, with no sign-up.

4 letters and 7 digits, like OOLU1234567. We don't keep the number or send it anywhere.

How it works

How to track an OOCL container

  1. 1

    Enter the container number

As it is on the container or the bill of lading, with or without spaces.

  2. 2

    We check the number

The check digit catches copying mistakes, and the prefix shows whether the container is OOCL's.

  3. 3

    Open OOCL's tracking page

There you see the container's moves, vessel and arrival date. OOCL's page also takes the bill of lading or booking number.

Prefixes

OOCL container prefixes

The first four letters of a container number name its owner. These are the prefixes registered to OOCL:

  • OOLU
  • OOCU

A container may carry a leasing company's prefix and still sail with OOCL: then track it by the bill of lading or booking number on OOCL's page.

If the container doesn't show

Why doesn't my container show on the line's website?

  • It's a leased container: the prefix belongs to a leasing company, not the line, so search by bill of lading or booking number.
  • The number was copied wrong: check the last digit; the tool tells you the one it expected.
  • It hasn't reached the port yet: its moves usually show once the terminal receives it.
  • It's on another line: the line on the bill of lading tracks it, and that is not always the container's owner.
FAQ

Questions about OOCL tracking

How do I track an OOCL container?

Enter the container number in the tool on this page: it checks the number and opens OOCL's official tracking page. On OOCL's page you can also search by bill of lading or booking number.

What are OOCL's container prefixes?

OOLU, OOCU. A prefix not in this list usually belongs to a leasing company, whose containers any line may carry.

Can I track OOCL by bill of lading or booking number?

Yes, on OOCL's own tracking page, which takes the container, bill of lading or booking number. The tool on this page reads container numbers.

Why doesn't my OOCL container show up?

Check the number first: the tool tells you when the check digit is wrong. If the container is leased, its prefix is the leasing company's, so search by the bill of lading or booking number. A container usually shows up once the terminal has received it.
